The King's Children's Home

A SAFE HOUSE FOR CHILDREN IN THE EASTERN CAPE

Many children in South Africa are born with a death sentence.

ABANDONED

3,500 children are abandoned every year in SA. Children are dumped in bins, wrapped in black bags, thrown in bushes or left at hospitals.

ABUSED

South Africa has the highest prevalence of fetal alcohol syndrome in the world; more than 14 times the global average.

ORPHANED

Children make up 34% of SA’s population, yet there are nearly 4 million orphans. The Eastern Cape has the most orphans nationwide.
